Better clean my room, looks like I'll be here for a while

Alright,
So today I got the news that my college is going remote for the entire upcoming semester. There are obviously tons of things I’m bummed about and I’m sure everyday might be an emotional roller coaster.
But… I’ve decided… I really think this is one of those instances where you have to remind yourself that sometimes life is going to choose what you’re doing or where you’re going and while that’s kind of out of your control, what you do with it is in your control.
I love my home. I think I’m pretty fortunate to live on Long Island. And of course I’m lucky to live in a house where I love the people around me. But where I’m going with this is, this whole thing is another opportunity to take advantage of my situation instead of being bummed about it.
Side note, I’m currently writing this in a journal with a bunch of Hannah Montana faces on it that says “Cyrus-ly Good Ideas” on the cover. I got it for Christmas and, you know, felt a little awkward whipping it out in front of my roommate with no context so it has yet to be written in. I figured there’s no better time than now to crack it open and use it as my “Semester at Home” journal. Plus I’m sure it’ll give me a good laugh every time I go to write.
So, with being home this semester, I’ve been toying with different ideas for writing, videos and photos and stuff. And careers. And figuring out what I want to do with my life. You know, some light thinking.
But, with our remote news email this morning, I thought to myself, ‘Maybe this is it.’
I don’t know what I’ll share or how I’ll share it but I know there's some potential behind the things I’ve thought of doing during my semester at home.
First off, I want to run. I was really good with running in the beginning of quarantine and I was loving it. But I’d definitely like to get back to it since I’ll be home for a while, take advantage of these flat roads, LOL! Maybe I’ll even try different routes around my town or maybe around the island.
I’d also like to do some hiking, try some other trails around me, or maybe drive to other parts of New York and do some hiking. That is dependent on whether or not my car comes out of this summer driveable because it’s been one heck of a roller coaster with that bad boy recently.
Another thing I’d like to do some more of is going to the beach. Being on Long Island, obviously I’m near the beach and the water, so I really want to keep going into the fall because it just gets more and more beautiful in my opinion. Plus, I want to surf. I’m so inconsistent with surfing but hopefully I can do some of that.
I also want to continue paddle boarding. That’s by far my FAVORITE activity. Two places on my list of places to check out are McAllister Park because I love the incredible views there or the Carmans River Paddle Board Route because that recently came up on my All Trails app.
That’s all I really thought of so far. Maybe I’ll also try to continue improving my cooking and baking. I’m sure some other things will come to me along the way but I definitely want to document this in this journal or on my blog… or Instagram… or elsewhere. But, yeah.
Also, if you have any other suggestions for this weird period of time let me know, FOR REAL. TEXT ME, OR EMAIL ME, OR COMMENT. Just tell me. I want to know your ideas.
Here’s to making the most of it! And maybe I’ll even get something out of this. Let’s see peeps, thank you again for reading!
P.S.
If you want to join me on any of these little activities let me know too :)
