This semester, I am taking a course called Mobile Journalism. We were advised to select a specific beat related to the Central New York area. Naturally, based on my ongoing interest in travel and tourism, I decided to go with that. I have always found Ithaca to be an incredibly interesting area when it comes to tourism. We have our incredible hikes, as well as plenty of places to eat, drink and so much more. I believe that Ithaca would be an incredible place to visit during warmer months, I would love to showcase the warm embrace this city provides- year round.

Whether travelers are driving through on their way to their next destination, visiting a college, stopping in to attend an upstate wedding, taking a day trip or just exploring the plentiful opportunities here, I want to be a source they can look to for tips, tricks and the best of the best.

My first story will be on the Bar Argos Jazz night event that is hosted on Wednesdays.

I decided to cover this specific event because Bar Argos is connected to Argos Inn which is a historic mansion in Ithaca, New York that was restored years ago. This spot features art and other gems from around the globe. The Inn also features the bar, serving award winning cocktails to travelers. The spot also is a leader in green/environmentally friendly features.

I've always enjoyed elements of travel and exploration and I'm looking to really deep dive into that during my last semester at Ithaca College. This class and this specific beat serves as a perfect opportunity to do so, providing that extra nudge to get out into the community and document a few of Ithaca's finest, eclectic, embracing and celebrated spots.

My goal is to be able to curate a "Need To See" list for those venturing into the 14850 area.
