Some Travel of My Own

I selected my initial beat of travel and tourism because it is a passion of mine. That being said, I was thrilled to take a trip of my own last week.
It was Ithaca College's spring break so I took that as a chance to hop around a little bit. To start, I drove to my hometown on Long Island. Then, on Monday morning at 3:50, I headed to the airport (just fifteen minutes from my house fortunately) to fly to Orlando.
Some of my favorite components of travel have nothing to do with the location I'm visiting. It's more so the components of excitement and nostalgia that come with early airport trips. Especially MacArthur Airport where I've been flying out of since my first plane rides ever. I'm always brought back to how it felt getting on a plane to go to Disney or a beach vacation and as a child there was no better feeling.
As I boarded the flight this time around, I anticipated exploring a college town, outdoor workouts, some time in the ocean, more time in the pool and being reunited with some of my favorite people.
Once I arrived in Orlando, I immediately chugged some coffee than got to working out. This is one part of travel that I've always tried to prioritize just cause it continuously helps me feel my best. A quick workout, whether that is a run or an hour at the gym or something of the sort, always makes for a great day in my opinion.
We then drove to Canaveral Beach and it was so beautiful. Growing up on Long Island, I have always known sandy spiraling beaches backed by dunes or houses. This one had this incredible greenery and the ocean was the perfect temperature for a long overdue jump in.
Following the beach day, we ate at Jimmy Hulus, a quick serve Mexican restaurant in the Winter Park area. It was delicious and such a perfect meal to wrap up a tiring day.
The next few days of the trip consisted of running, paddle boarding, relaxing outside, lots of piña coladas and margaritas and great company.
On my last night in Florida, we got dressed up and had a lovely waterfront dinner in Disney Springs. This too is one of my favorite parts of travel, getting dressed up and taking advantage of your surroundings.
As cliche as it sounds, this was one of those trips that reminded me just how much I appreciate being outside, in the sun, and how great it can be to relocate with the people you love. It's incredible to take a step back from routine every once in a while and take in the beautiful areas outside of your own that the world has to offer.
